| The Uhaul stores down on Erie and off of Teal have let me down in the past. Also, at the Budget on Burnet I showed up for a reservation at 7:45AM only to be told they have no trucks, no idea when they were coming in. The Penske next to BK down on Erie has come through for me twice. Nice and clean, well maintained trucks as well. But they cost more than UHaul! So far, it looks like getting rid of as much unnecessary or replaceable stuff will be the most cost effective way to get out there with what you want to keep. If you can avoid a UHaul altogether and drive, you avoid the $2200. A 14' truck will be a bitch. Are you planning on heading south to cross on 40W? Try to avoid so much weather during Jan! I drove from ATL to Vegas in a loaded 24' Enterprise deisel~ speed was capped at ~65 and that sucked. We drove out on 20W and back on 10. That's probably a bit too far south for your trip though. Can you ship one of your bikes along with your other goods? So if you drove the Z, you're looking at about $800? How much $$ would you have if you sold your car, bike(s) [maybe leave one at home for now, until Spring?], and replaceable stuff~ adding in what the cost would be to transport everything that doesn't fit with you in the Z. Tough call man, but it will be good to set out on this venture. When we moved this last time I rented a 24' truck and trailer from Penske. Towed the Z, wife drove down with the baby, brother drove my car and his woman followed down to drive him back to his house. It was a long PITA event, but I'm happy to be done with those winters!
